    Katong Laksa

Laksa! There's so many variations of laksa all around. Being one of Singapore's food identity, I have to search around for the best aksas around town!

There's laksa lemak, or better known as laksa nyonya (Peranakan laksa), there's assam laksa which is a sour based soup, there's also your penang laksa, which is your local malay laksa. All deserves its respect for it's own identity and their own type of laksa. However, I'm in search for THE BEST laksa!

Katong laksa has to top my list. There's so many stalls claiming that it's the original katong laksa. None have even came close! Tucked in the corner of The Bencoolen Building, I found and astounding laksa that even my dad thinks that they are the orignal one!
Just look at it! Short noodles, cockles, prawns, fish cake with sambal that doesn't blows your head off. A nice balance of coconut milk, soft and creamy texture of the gravy and of course, the aroma that lingers through your tongue even without tasting it yet! No fork or chopsticks! Just spoon alone to get both noodles and gravy together at a slurp!

Empty bowl, glistening sweat around your forehead. That's what you get after a good meal here. When they're preparing the laksa for you, they bask your noodles with the gravy over and over again till they finally pour in a ladle of gravy before serving it to you. Imagine all the great flavor from tonnes and tonnes of bowl they sell since early morning!

Try coming during lunch hour and I can tell you, you can start waiting for at least an hour to get a seat let alone a bowl. At just $4.00  a bowl, I can bet that one bowl wouldn't satisfy for your laksa craving.

I was surprise to see this little fella hanging around. The aunty said it goes well with the laksa and I was like, "why not"? Otah. You get the bad ones and you'll be running for the toilet in no time. You have no idea how much flavor this Otah has. Its soft, delicate and just metls in your mouth. Not too over powering your main star of the show which is the laksa, but it's individual flavor send you high and running. At just a dollar a piece, even when it's cold, it's nice. So far, this has been the best Otah I've ever tasted!
