Before you all go on and say that I am an ice-cream junkie and all...Hold that thought! I AM NOT! Just that when I was around Plaza Singapura, this Baileys bottle just caught my eye!
Obviously, I went for the obvious choice of getting the "Baileys Irish Cream". Ok, this has to be said. They sell Gelato here, not ice-cream and mine you, they are two different things. Gelato is churned at a slower speed than ice cream, so it's denser because not as much air is whipped into the mixture. (Gelato contains about 25 to 30 percent air, while ice cream can contain as much as 50 percent air) Finally, while ice cream is typically served frozen, gelato is typically stored and served at a slightly warmer temperature, so it's not quite completely frozen. Ice cream legally has a minimum of 10 percent fat, gelato is made with a greater proportion of whole milk to cream, so it contains more like five to seven percent fat. Don't ask me how I know this. Too much Jamie Oliver shows for me. Let's get back to the main star of the show which is this gelato over here.
Typically, it's fresh creamy texture is your typicaly gelato consistency. What this is different is the hint of Baileys that you can just get at the tip of your tongue. Well, not too much till you get drunk of course, but you can sense that tingling alcohol sensation on your pallet that get's you digging for more!
For a small cup, $5.40 is the minimum price you would be paying for. Not something that you would get everyday, but something once in awhile to pamper your tastebuds!
